Avian Audacity,Up-cycled ceramics with onglaze
44cm across 33cm heightCrows, audacious and adaptable, shifting their ways in a rapidly changing environment. My crow is doing its thing, making good of all the waste we dump on its home. I use old plates to tell my stories, they have a history, and this one has a cultural reference to England, the British Empire. Underneath is the turkey, that would have been roasted, presented, and carved on this plate.
The indigenous crow, survives, and rules supreme over its colonial turkey, letting us know with its mawkish cry.

Frontyard Projects Residency in August.
Gemma Deacon and I will be having a 2 week residency at Frontyard Projects @frontyardorg which is A Not-Only-Artist Run Initiative. A pro-active, flexible space for practical skills-sharing, community cultural engagement and critical research. Their aim is to challenge, facilitate and nurture collaborations between people with a passion for culture and to build a more resilient and sustainable independent arts community for the future.
We are working on our Museum Of Rejection The Museum of Rejection is an arts project that explore stories of rejection. We are not limiting MoR to professional rejection as its consequences extend to all areas of our lives.
So for our residency we will be doing a call out for rejection stories and coming up with a system that will collate this information in meaningful and interesting creative way. Stay tuned.Kil.n.it temporary studio
I have this studio which I share with three others for 3 months until they are able to use it as a classroom again. It's been good to put my art materials out again. What happens after this, well I'm not sure yet.
I am a finalist in The North Queensland Biennial Ceramics Award 2020
The work will be shown at the Perc Tucker Regional Gallery from 24 July – 20 September 2020 Online of course.
Here is the link to the prize-
whatson.townsville.qld.gov.au/events/no…Working in at Kil-n-it Experimental Ceramics Studio.
Kil.n.it is a studio for ceramic artists in the inner west of Sydney. I'm using my prize money to get some 'non-share' shared studio space. Working on some ideas for Meroogal Women's Art Prize and loving it. Because of the current situation, the shared studio can't be shared so I have it to myself and spread myself right over the available tablespace. It's quiet and I can concentrate well then go and have a chat with my friend and colleague @ebonyrussellart in her studio. All at the appropriate distance.
